Europe's finest come to America in a slightly repackaged game.
If you’re a hardcore soccer fan, this game is a decent addition to the pantheon of EA footie offerings. Although it doesn’t share the scope of regular old FIFA, it’ll keep you warm until a new one ships next year. If you can’t spare the dough, though, you’re not going to be missing much you haven’t already played. That’s what makes this game tough to judge… it’s not really for the casual, and definitely not for anyone who wants to play as a team from any of the other six continents.
A great license, a decent number of modes and some slick menus, but what’s up with the lack of Holland’s player names?
The player models are good, animations are great, and the stadiums are awfully pretty.
A healthy smattering of international EA Trax mixes nicely with excellent crowd noise, on-field jabber, and great commentary.
Fun and easy to play, as EA soccer offerings have almost always been. If you played FIFA, you’ve got a good idea of the play mechanic. Some enhancements, but basically the same game.
Lasting Appeal (7/10)
It’s unlikely you’ll play this as much as a FIFA game, which offers tons more modes. But playing through the tourney multiple times is a blast.
