Fujifilm FinePix S1500 review
A capable ultra-zoom camera at a remarkably low price, but even better-value models are available.

Fujifilm FinePix S1500
Design: 8/10
Features: 8/10
Ease-of-use: 8/10
Image quality: 8/10
Value for money: 9/10Conclusion
Like all bridge cameras the Fujifilm FinePix S1500 sets itself up as a jack-of-all-trades device, and this time for a reasonable price indicative of its manufacturer's mass-market intentions. In fact, for just over £200, it feels like a lot of camera for the money. -
This camera offers manual exposure modes as well as a viewfinder, image stabilisation and the ability to zoom in when shooting a movie. It scores well for ease of use when compared to other, similar digital cameras.

Fujifilm FinePix S1500 digital camera
Plus
- Fairly priced
- Larger than average zoom range
- Good "bridge" option for those wanting a wider range of compositional choices without being unduly overwhelmed
Minus
- Video picks up operational noise
- Noticeable shutter delay in single shot mode
- "IS" not reliable
Conclusion Though no match for the picture quality and response time of an entry level DSLR, the S1500 is more approachable, the only extras required being a removable SD or SDHC media card for storing pictures plus a set of rechargeable AAs. It’s a "one size fits all" digital camera for those who have outgrown the limitations of a humble snapshot, but still want something the mother in law will be able to fathom.
