    Conclusion
There's no denying that Sony was chasing headlines with the Xperia Z5 Premium. We should all applaud Sony for what is has achieved in putting a 4K display in a smartphone, but feels like this hasn't been done with the right intentions.Battery issues were inevitable, and I'd really hoped that Sony had a plan to improve the battery life in the Xperia Z5 Premium. Instead, Sony has just hoped its battery would be sufficient and run with it.This suggests that the Xperia Z5 Premium is more of an experiment than an attempt at making the best phone on the market. The general specs of the Xperia Z5 Premium do impress, though. If you can live with that below-average battery life, and don't mind spending a bit more on the fast-charging adapter, you'll have a fantastic experience with this phone.Sony has proved that 4K in a phone is possible, and I look forward to the next version – we'll hopefully be able to appreciate that display even more when some of the other issues have been ironed out.It might not be as stylish a handset as the Xperia Z5, or as easy to hold as the Xperia Z5 Compact, but the Xperia Z5 Premium is the go-to phone for enthusiasts who want the next big thing. It's just a shame that it's not a more rounded package that everyone else can get excited about.Read our review of the Sony Xperia Z5First reviewed November 2015

  • Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

    Plus

    • Bra skärm
    • Kraftfull processor
    • MicroSD-kortläsare
    • Vattentät

    Minus

    • Kantig hårdvarudesign
    • Bräckligt glasbakstycke
    • Medelmåttig batteritid
    • Högt pris

    Slutsats

  • Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

    Plus

    • Sony's Xperia Z5 Premium has a gorgeous, pin-sharp screen, it's powerful, packs a solid camera and won't die when you spill your drink on it.

    Minus

    • Its 4K display results in a sky-high price, but the extra resolution adds nothing to the overall experience. Sony's familiar design is beginning to look rather tired.

    Conclusion
Don't be tempted by the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium's attention-grabbing 4K screen. You can spend less money on a better all-round flagship phone.

  • Sony Xperia Z5 Premium review: First class all the way?

    Plus

    • Display will make movies look great
    • Waterproofing
    • MicroSD card slot
    • Good battery performance

    Minus

    • Camera is slow
    • Lots of bloatware
    • Some software changes are for the worse
    • Design isn't as premium as some rivals

Conclusion The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is an interesting smartphone. It's launched with fanfare, but only really puts a higher resolution display on the front of the experience you'll get from the regular model. If you're after the Xperia experience in a larger format, if the 5.2-inch model isn't as big as you want, then the Z5 Premium might be perfect for you.To really take advantage of the display you need to work quite hard. If you're a 4K video fan and you have lots of content, then yes, it's potent. But this isn't going to ramp up the resolution across all your Android apps, leaving things looking pretty much as they do elsewhere. But that said, as larger devices go, the battery lasts well enough, there's the advantage of waterproofing and plenty more on the media front to keep you entertained.Ultimately, the higher resolution display feels like Sony laying down a marker for the future. We're sure that 4K content will become more prevalent and that this device could then offer a lot more. However, at the moment, this is a pricy 5.5-incher, facing plenty of talented, big screened, more exciting, rivals.

  • Sony Xperia Z5 Premium 4K Smartphone Review

Conclusion After using this phone for an extended period, I was able to test whether the differently-sized bezel was annoying me due to teething issues or was something that I was unable to overcome in the long run.  While the great internal hardware specifications match the brilliant display, a stellar camera, and awesome battery capacity, they are struck down by an awkward shape, tacky side buttons, and a smudge-city backing plate.  This smartphone presents itself as a classy, feature-rich, premium package and achieves that in nine out of ten situations, with the tenth thing often bringing the whole package crashing back down to square one. It blows its competitors out of the water in the many departments, in addition to offering a powerful CPU and GPU combination that help back the high-FPS camera. These notions alone help cement the Z5 Premium as in the 'cream of the crop' range of smartphones. If you can get past the fact that the size is a little off, the shape is clunky, and the price is just high, this phone might be perfect for you. What I'm saying is, it's amazing at what it does – but that's about it. Sure, you can purchase a Ferrari because it's fast, but drive it 60 minutes to work every day in peak hour traffic and you'll be longing for a Toyota after not too long. Remember, remarkable on paper does not mean remarkable in real life, but if you're a stats fan, this is the phone for you.

Conclusion A 4K smartphone might seem like something you want but you really don't need it and it's an expensive card to play in order to trump your mates. The device is also big, uncomfortable and brash. Hardware is the same as the regular Z5 so it really comes down to the screen, which doesn't even display 4K much of the time. We strongly recommend steering clear of the Premium which is this year's most unnecessary phone and sticking to the regular Z5 or one its alternatives.
