The mobile phone is great for what it costs. I'm very detail-oriented when buying a new device and this one hasn't disappointed me.
I have always been a premium buyer, and this time I wanted to try a more affordable model that promises to compete with the more expensive ones at the cost of small sacrifices. And the truth is that it has managed to convince me that it is not necessary to pay more to have a high-end experience.

However, it was difficult to decide at first, as it has excellent competitors in this price range.

I first considered the Xperia 5 II, which is a very good phone, but I was not convinced by its aspect ratio, and also has less RAM and memory for a higher price. The camera isn't any better either, it needs to be operated in PRO mode to get good results. Also it promised to be an excellent sound experience, which is true, if you have a Sony headset. Unfortunately it does not handle the AAC codec that almost all manufacturers use to have HD sound. So it loses its appeal with other brands like BOSE.

Also consider the Galaxy S20FE, which is also excellent, but unfortunately the processor in this region is the EXYNOS model, which is not up to the Snapdragon 865 of the OP 8T. If it had been the North American version, it might have been a better Samsung option in terms of hardware. Then, the software experience seems to me superior in Oneplus, with faster updates and Android 11 from the factory. Also, for the same price you have again more RAM and more memory. The screens are practically the same, which speaks very well of Oneplus.

The model that for the price I consider superior, is the ASUS Zenfone 7 pro. It has better hardware, better camera and software to match. But I discarded it because it is significantly heavier and larger. Although the numbers may seem small, you can tell a lot about it in your pocket. It's difficult for day-to-day use. It also has no support for Dolby Atmos, which significantly lowers the sound quality when it's not there. I also have my doubts about the resistance of the rotating camera in case of a fall.

Sure the Oneplus is not perfect, but good enough that it doesn't matter. Its camera may be the weakest point, but it's not a bad thing, it's the only thing that's not up to the premium models, without the difference being huge anyway. The construction quality is outstanding, as well as its screen and audio quality by headphones. Its software is one of the best Android layers available on the market, a plus without a doubt. And finally, that the full charge takes just over half an hour, is something you get used to and there is no turning back.

As a side note, although it is not IP68 certified the reality is that it is. The US variant of AT&T certifies it, and it is the same global model. For some reason they simply didn't want to pay for the certification.

It deserves 5 stars, because what it lacks to be the ultimate phone, it makes up for in terms of accessibility to its results.
